Essential: Experienced in complex paedriatric care, e.g. PEG / Tube Feeding and Suctioning (Oral). Confident in all aspects of manual handling. Non-smoker/Vaper. This role is open to female applicants only.

Days & Hours: Term-time Weekdays: 3.15pm 8.15pm, school holidays: 8.15am to 8.15pm. Shifts are Monday to Friday, with a minimum of 3 shifts each week available.

About this client: Ivy is 4 years old and starting primary school in September. She lives at home with her Mummy and Daddy in Haringey. She loves playing with her music toys, listening to nursery rhymes and story books, sensory lights, water play and playing with her friends in preschool. She is an engaging, sociable, energetic little girl and is thriving! Ivy is diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy (GMFCS Level 5), Dystonia, a Visual Impairment (CVI) and Epilepsy. Ivy has a PEG in-situ in which she receives all her fluid, nutrition and medication, and requires regular oral suctioning. She is currently pre-verbal, and working with her SALT to determine which AAC s are suitable to support communication. Due to Ivy s complex needs, she requires 1:1 support 24/7, to facilitate and enable her to access the world around her. Ivy s parents would like to employ a SEN Support Worker with a background in complex medical care to assist Ivy with her afterschool routine and during school holidays.
Overview of role: The SEN Support Worker will provide 1:1 after school care and support Ivy in her family home, managing all areas and aspects of her ADL, complex care needs, and following the care plan. Ivy s SEN Support Worker will plan fun and engaging activities to encourage learning, development, and implement her therapy programmes, with a focus on promoting independence. The role will also involve completing paperwork, working on a collaborative basis with Ivy s parents, case manager and MDT. During school holidays there is more scope to arrange trips and adventure days out.Due to Ivy s compromised immune system, she is highly vulnerable to infections and often unable to attend school, in this instance if the SEN Support Worker can start their shift earlier than 3.15pm, it will be greatly appreciated. There are ample opportunities for overtime, and we welcome applications from experienced SEN professionals interested in a lead role with team coordination responsibilities.
