Weekend SEN Buddy / Mentor, Luton, LU2. A fantastic weekend opportunity available for a fun, engaging, and proactive SEN Buddy / Mentor to assist a creative, bright and energetic 10-year-old with a visual impairment. £164.00 Gross per Shift

About this client: Sophie is intelligent, funny, and a determined 10-year-old with a love for musical theatre, singing, and performing living with her family in Luton. Sophie and her twin brother were born prematurely (24 + 4 weeks). Sophie developed Retinopathy of Prematurity at birth and as a result she has a profound visual impairment. She attends a mainstream primary school, has an EHCP in place and is making remarkable progress, not only in terms of her education but in all aspects of her life. Sophie currently has a Snap Care SEN PA assisting her during the week, and her team is now expanding to include weekend support.

Overview of role: This main aim of this role is to facilitate and foster Sophie s overall independence and self-help skills, giving her every opportunity to learn, grow, build her confidence and share similar experiences with her peer group. The SEN Buddy / Mentor will offer encouragement, support, and motivation to enable Sophie to participate in activities alongside her peers and explore new hobbies and interests; her current interests include swimming, shopping and going to amusement parks. Sophie, like most young people her age enjoys keeping up with her friends on social media, therefore, her SEN Buddy / Mentor will be a whizz with platforms such as Instagram, Tik Tok, Snap Chat, facebook and competent to support safe use of social media. Alternate Weekends: Saturday and Sunday: 9.00am 5.00pm. Wednesday 3.00pm 9.00pm is also available, if desired. The weekday rate is £18.50 gross per hour.

You will be interested in performing arts, savvy with social media and technology, and enjoy working in a family setting.
