Hours & Days: This is a job share with the current Snap Care candidate. The hours to be covered are any two weekdays, Monday to Friday, 7.00am to 8.00pm, term-time, and 8.00am to 8.00pm school holidays and one weekend day (optional). Hours can be made up of long days or shorter AM/PM shifts, as mutually agreed.

About the Family: This is a lovely, close-knit family with two children: Ella (9) is a bright and artistic girl who enjoys crafts and has recently started learning the piano. Her older brother, Jamie (14), is a highly intelligent and inquisitive teenager who plays the saxophone and has a diagnosis of ADHD and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). Jamie can occasionally show behaviours such as resistance to routines or making socially inappropriate remarks, so a calm, consistent approach is key. Their mum uses a wheelchair and requires some daily practical support due to limited mobility.

Overview of Role: This is a job share role working alongside an existing Family Support Worker. Together, you will provide full-day cover across the week, including one mutually agreed weekend day. Shifts can be organised as long or short days to suit both workers and the family. Your role will include supporting school drop-offs and pick-ups, overseeing homework, helping with evening routines, and keeping areas tidy. You’ll support the mother with household tasks such as making the beds, making her a cup of tea, cooking meals from her favourite recipes for the family (which she is no longer able to make herself), tidying up, and occasionally helping her move around the house, for example assisting her to get to the bathroom. There is some personal care involved with this role, such as helping in and out of the shower and assisting with dressing. You’ll also organise fun and stimulating activities for the children during school holidays like museum trips, creative play, or baking sessions, and occasional dog walking. The family currently enjoys short holidays (typically one week), and you should be happy to accompany them, with the possibility of longer trips abroad of up to two weeks, in the future.

Who This Job Would Suit: This position is ideal for a warm, enthusiastic female support worker who is happy to work collaboratively as part of a small team. You’ll need a good sense of humour, patience, and confidence working with children with additional needs. A love of dogs is also a must, as their Cockapoo is very much part of the household! This is a rewarding role where you’ll make a tangible difference to the whole family’s quality of life.

What’s Great About This Job: You’ll be joining a supportive, appreciative family and working with a case manager familiar with their needs. With the flexibility of a job share (with the current Snap care candidate), the role offers variety and meaningful engagement—both with the children and their mum. Your input will help the family regain balance and independence in everyday life.
