This role supports a growing UK business by bringing clear thinking, good judgement, and commercial insight to financial decision-making. As Management Accountant, you will own the delivery of accurate, timely management accounts and provide practical analysis that helps leaders understand performance and make better decisions. You will work closely with teams across the organisation, offering insight that drives profitability, efficiency, and sustainable growth. The role has real visibility and influence, with your work shaping business outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing monthly management accounts
  • Analysing utilisation and margins
  • Managing project P&Ls
  • Forecasting
  • Partnering with practice leads to support commercial decisions
  • Contributing to headcount planning and improvements to reporting processes

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll play a central role in supporting the commercial performance of the UK business. Working closely with practice leads and senior stakeholders, you’ll provide insight that drives profitability, efficiency, and sustainable growth.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ownership of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and insight
  • Utilisation, recovery rate, and margin reporting across the business
  • Project P&Ls and variance analysis, highlighting drivers of performance
  • Forecasting and reforecasting, supporting short- and medium-term planning
  • Business partnering with practice leads to support commercial decision-making
  • Headcount cost modelling and support for growth planning

In your first 3-6 months, success might look like:

  • Management accounts delivered confidently and on time, with clear commentary
  • Stakeholders using your insight to make better commercial decisions
  • Strong relationships built with practice leads and leadership
  • Greater clarity around margins, utilisation, and cost drivers
  • Early improvements to reporting or forecasting processes as the business evolves

What you’ll need to succeed:

We’re looking for someone who combines solid technical foundations with commercial judgement and a collaborative mindset. You might be a great fit if you have:

  • Proven management accounting experience, including hands-on ownership of monthly management accounts, P&L, balance sheet understanding and variance analysis
  • Strong commercial judgement – able to explain numbers clearly, focus on what matters and translate data into insight for non-finance stakeholders
  • Experience working in a growing or changing environment where processes are evolving rather than fixed
  • An ownership mindset – you take responsibility for accuracy, deadlines and outcomes
  • A collaborative, down-to-earth working style, building trust across the business
  • Solid Excel skills and confidence working with accounting systems (e.g. Xero, QBO) and data sets
  • Professional services and global business experience

Nice to have:

  • Experience in a scale-up or PE/VC-backed environment
  • Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, or longer-term planning
  • Experience improving or building reporting processes
  • Interest in automation, BI tools, or dashboards
  • Curiosity about how the wider business operates beyond finance

This role might not be the right fit if you’re looking for:

  • A narrow, transactional accounting role with limited stakeholder interaction
  • Highly rigid processes where there’s no opportunity to influence or improve ways of working
  • A purely technical role without commercial context
