Smyths Toy Superstores are a rapidly expanding retailer specialising in toys, software, and nursery products. Smyths Toys is one of the world's largest specialty retailers of children's toys, operating online and through physical retail stores across Europe and the UK. We source our product range from an extensive array of UK, European, and international suppliers.

As a Bike Mechanic, you will be expected to provide a high level of customer service, assemble bikes in store and manage associated assembly sign-off/ health & safety paperwork and certificates. You will help your team achieve daily targets and ensure that the store is well stocked and well presented at all times. Successful candidates will work as part of a fast‑paced and dynamic team. Training in bike assembly and health & safety is provided. Our stores are open 7 days a week and we need our Bike Mechanics to be flexible, particularly on weekends, which are our busiest trading days. This is a temporary contract, with a rate of pay of £12.90 per hour for over 21 and £11.00 per hour for under 21.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a high level of customer service
  • Ascertain customers’ needs and wants
  • Work as part of a fast paced and dynamic team
  • Keep the store clean and tidy
  • Pack shelves and merchandise
  • Work delivery and complete price changes
  • Work on the tills
  • Learn about and keep up to date with our products in order to help customers

The Ideal Candidate

  • Retail experience in the following areas is highly desirable, but not essential: Backdoor/Warehouse
  • Personal interest in biking/bikes would be advantageous
  • Good organisational skills essential to manage assembly certificates/ health & safety paperwork
  • Flexibility to work 7 days a week, including weekends
