General Manager – Premium Gastro Pub (Near Reading)

Salary: £50,000

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Near Reading (commutable from surrounding areas)

We are a highly regarded fine-dining gastro pub known for exceptional food, impeccable service, and a warm, relaxed atmosphere. With a focus on seasonal British produce, expertly curated drinks, and memorable guest experiences, we’re now looking for an outstanding General Manager to lead our front-of-house team and help take the business to the next level.

The Role

As General Manager, you will be the driving force behind the pub’s day-to-day operations and long-term success. You’ll lead by example, inspire your team, and uphold the highest standards of hospitality.

Closed Sunday PM, Monday and Tuesday

Key Responsibilities

Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing FOH team
Deliver exceptional guest experiences with a personal touch
Oversee staffing, rota management, recruitment, and training
Manage financial performance including GP, labour, cost control, and budgeting
Ensure smooth coordination between FOH and kitchen teams
Maintain compliance with health, safety, and licensing regulations
Support ongoing marketing, events, and local community engagement
Uphold the brand’s reputation for quality and service excellence

About You

We’re looking for someone who combines natural leadership, business acumen, and a genuine love of hospitality.

Ideal Experience & Qualities

Proven experience as a General Manager or senior FOH leader within premium fine dining, gastro pubs, or boutique hotels
Passionate about food, wine, and exceptional service
Strong understanding of financial controls and commercial performance
Calm, confident, and solutions-focused
A hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced but quality-driven environment
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
