We are recruiting on behalf of a busy, food-led countryside gastro pub in West Sussex. This is a high-quality, seasonal operation with a strong drinks offering, excellent reputation and loyal local following.

The role suits a hands-on Bar Manager who loves hospitality, team leadership and delivering memorable guest experiences.

The Role

  • As Bar Manager, you'll take ownership of the bar operation, leading the team on shift and ensuring exceptional service standards at all times.
  • You’ll work closely with the General Manager and kitchen to deliver a seamless food and drink experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, train and motivate the bar team during service.
  • Manage staff rotas, recruitment and ongoing development.
  • Maintain excellent drink quality, presentation and service standards.
  • Control stock, ordering, GP and supplier relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing, health & safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Create a welcoming atmosphere and handle customer feedback.
  • Support menu development including cocktails, wines and premium drinks.
  • Drive sales, promotions and events to maximise revenue.
  • Monitor performance and help achieve financial targets.

Bar Managers typically oversee daily operations, staff scheduling, stock control and licensing compliance while ensuring smooth service and customer satisfaction.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience as Bar Manager / Assistant Manager / Senior Supervisor.
  • Strong cocktail, wine and premium drinks knowledge.
  • Proven leadership in a busy pub, bar or restaurant environment.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Commercial awareness and stock management experience.
  • Personal Licence (preferred or willingness to obtain).
