This job description is intended as a guide to the type of role the Job Holder is expected to perform. As the nature of our business can vary with changes in customer requirements and operation procedures, the following tasks are the key duties of the role, but it is understood that the Job Holder will undertake any function in which he/she is adequately trained or competent. If in time, significant change to the role is experienced, a new job description will be issued.

Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with all production teams performing both planned and breakdown maintenance on print and print related areas and to respond to requests for repairs/spare ordering in a timely manner in accordance with the requirements of the business.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Performing planned maintenance on print and print related machinery to ensure that they are at a high standard.
  • Acting in a training capacity to print minders to enhance current maintenance practices.
  • Implementing and providing training for all employees for planned preventative maintenance programs in finishing.
  • Responding to breakdowns and requests for work.
  • Implementing improvements on current processes.
  • Reducing downtime of current equipment and maintaining the current spare part inventory.
  • Identifying and implementing improvements on current finishing maintenance processes.
  • Working with management to establish new spare parts processes including Kanbans where necessary to improve spare part inventory management.
  • Developing and recording all engineering activities carried out by use of the Electronic Maintenance Management System including spare parts ordering and booking in.
  • Effectiveness of machinery and therefore production output.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:
  • City & Guilds trained with an HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Mechanical engineering experience.
  • Organisational skills with quick reactivity to breakdowns.
  • Decision making ability.
  • Adaptable technician with experience working with PLCs, AC/DC motors, drives and controllers, ideally within the packaging industry.
  • Adaptable fault finding and rectification skills.
