Job Purpose

Reporting to the General Manager, the Logistics Operator’s main responsibility is transport and offload goods from HGV using counterbalance trucks and clamp trucks.

Job Responsibilities/Key accountabilities:

  • Manually picking material ready to go to sheeting department
  • Use of the Vision II Stock Management system, booking in material from daily scheduled deliveries, issuing orders to Sheeter and checking stock levels & locations.
  • Use of the Virtual Work Ticket system to check job criteria and status.
  • Use the PSA production planning system to check job status.
  • Transporting and off-loading goods from HGV / LGV vehicles inbound and outbound of varying descriptions, sizes and weights using a counter-balance fork-lift truck and Manual pallet trucks.
  • Working closely with the Purchasing Department to ensure all the material is present and correct for Production.
  • Helping to continuously improve the Logistics department
  • Assisting in the other areas in busier times.
  • Operation of the Guillotine where required – full training will be given
  • Any other warehouse duties as necessary.
  • Moving reels from storage to sheeting using clamp truck.
  • To work in a safe manner adhering to health and safety procedures
  • Participate as part of a team to maximise machine efficiency
  • To achieve the highest possible quality standards working within the guidelines outlined in the established quality systems to achieve customer specification
  • Carrying out regular maintenance tasks and checks on Fork Lift Trucks.
  • Carry out required in process checks (paper and electronic recording).
  • When necessary, cover alternative shifts during holiday or busier periods.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience

  • Good people skills with the ability to work well in a team and on own initiative.
  • Good level of verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety in the workplace.
  • Excellent timekeeping, ambition and desire to succeed.
  • Good level of IT Skills – Microsoft packages.
