The Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for a UK Finance Manager – Assets & Liabilities to join our Central Finance Team and report to the UK&I CFO. The role is based in our Liverpool office and will also involve travel to our sites across the UK.

Responsibilities of the UK Finance Manager will include:

  • Design, implement and manage centralisation of key controls and Balance Sheet accounts to the centre.
  • Focus on overall company process efficiency and continuously improve our processes and get the right controls in the right place.
  • Remove SOX control requirements at site level and move them centrally, then own and perform these SOX controls.
  • Control owner for centralised controls from the operating plants.
  • Ensure full compliance to SOX requirements including evidencing where applicable.
  • Approval and review of key SOX & Financial Monitoring controls review/approval for operating plants.
  • Own the Balance Sheet for all accounts centralised from the operating plants including forecasting, reconciliations and reviews.
  • Help with shared service control performance.
  • Manage the UK Fixed Assets including:
  • Management of the Capex pipeline approval process.
  • Liaise closely with UK Technical Director to ensure smooth approval and forecast process.
  • Capex additions and disposals ensuring all have the appropriate SOX reviews & evidence.
  • Depreciation reviews.
  • Ensure all assets are brought into use on a timely basis and that additions timing is managed effectively.
  • FA forecasting for additions & cashflow.
  • Support smaller plants that have SOD issues, including review of manual journal entries.
  • Lead Process improvement Change projects around controls especially SOX.
  • All other ad hoc tasks as required by the business.
  • This is a new role, so this will evolve and develop as the businesses SOX transition continues. The successful candidate will therefore need to be dynamic and flexible.

    The successful candidate will have:

    • Strong analytical skills.
    • Ability to identify & promote change for improved efficiency within the business control environment.
    • The ability to balance operational and control requirements.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Ability to meet deadlines and ‘get the job done’.
    • Proactive behaviours in dealing with change.
    • Strong managerial skills.
    • Good audit background ideally with some SOX experience.

    To join the team you will need:

    • A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
    • Experience of professional auditing firms and/or strong understanding of financial cycles and corresponding control functions.
    • A full UK driving licence for travel to sites across UK as needed.
    • Experience of a SARBOX control environment would be very beneficial.
