The Role
The role of Health and Safety Coordinator supporting the Whitehaven Consumer Packaging site, will have a reporting line for HS&E topics to the Site Operational Lead.
We are looking for someone who can support the implementation of proactive health, safety and environmental initiatives at site to continually drive forward the positive culture currently embedded.
A brief overview of the responsibilities are noted below:
- Effectively work to the site Safety Excellence System including the maintenance of the system processes as well as the e2 Environmental Excellence System
- Develop action plans and track progress in line with the Smurfit Westrock HS&E strategy
- Support the management team with completion of in-depth learning events for any site-based incidents to determine suitable preventative control measures and assist in implementation of those actions
- Work with the site stakeholders, including operations, quality and HR teams to promote and drive a positive safety culture
- Organise and chair regular Safety Committee Meetings
- Encourage and support the use of the Smurfit Westrock Benchmark reporting portal for Health and Safety concerns, incidents, and metrics
- Support and coordinate external audits for accreditations including ISO14001 and ISO45001
Knowledge, skills, experience
- Any previous health, safety or environmental experience or qualifications would be desirable but not essential as full support and training will be provided
