We're looking for a Preventive Maintenance Engineer to support our dedicated HS2 operation, helping to maximise machine uptime across one of the UK's largest and most significant infrastructure projects.

This is a field-based role supporting equipment operating on the southern section of the HS2 project. To provide the best coverage across the region, we are particularly interested in candidates based in Coventry, Solihull, Birmingham, Warwick or the surrounding areas. Working closely with customers and internal teams, you'll play a key role in ensuring equipment remains safe, reliable, and available while delivering the first-class service standards expected on a major infrastructure project.

Please note: Applicants must hold an NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance (or equivalent qualification) and have experience maintaining and servicing construction plant equipment. Applications from candidates who do not meet these requirements are unlikely to be progressed.

What You'll Be Doing

In this role, you'll be responsible for carrying out planned maintenance servicing and inspections on Volvo construction equipment supporting the HS2 project, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard. You'll work closely with site teams and customers while accurately documenting findings, identifying additional service opportunities, and helping maximise machine reliability, compliance, and uptime.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Completing servicing, inspections, machine health checks, and preventive maintenance activities on construction equipment operating within HS2 environments.
  • Producing detailed inspection reports, service documentation, oil sample reports, and electronic job records in a timely manner.
  • Identifying additional repair and aftermarket opportunities while maintaining a commercially focused approach.
  • Completing product updates, campaign work, and software updates as required.
  • Maintaining high standards of safety, customer service, housekeeping, and compliance with company policies and site procedures.

What You'll Need

We're looking for a motivated and customer-focused engineer who takes pride in delivering high-quality work and excellent service.

To Be Successful, You'll Have

  • NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance (or equivalent qualification) is essential.
  • Experience in the repair, servicing, and maintenance of construction plant, heavy construction equipment, agricultural machinery, HGVs, or similar equipment.
  • Strong mechanical diagnostic and fault-finding skills with a commitment to high standards of workmanship.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Basic IT skills and confidence using tablets, systems, and electronic reporting tools, along with a full UK driving licence and the flexibility to travel when required.

What's in it for you?

Alongside a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your health, wellbeing, finances, and work-life balance. Benefits include a Health Cash Plan, 24/7 GP access, free physiotherapy support, enhanced family leave, enhanced sick pay, IVF support, pension contributions matched up to 5%, car leasing and cycle-to-work schemes, plus access to a wide range of retail and lifestyle discounts.

You’ll also benefit from our refer-a-friend scheme, paid volunteering day, long service awards, Christmas shutdown as part of your holiday allowance, and opportunities to get involved through our Employee Council, Social Committee, and Caring, Daring, Sharing awards programme.
