Are you an experienced engineer with a passion for diagnosing, repairing and maintaining heavy plant equipment?
We’re looking for a Workshop Engineer to join our team in Duxford, helping to ensure our customers' machinery operates safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain and repair Volvo Construction Equipment and other machinery as required.
- Carry out repairs in line with quotations and agreed timescales, highlighting any additional work requirements.
- Diagnose faults across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Complete service inspection reports, oil sample reports and other required documentation accurately.
- Record time and job information electronically in real time.
- Order and manage parts required to complete repairs.
- Ensure software updates are installed as new versions become available.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Attend product and technical training to maintain and develop technical competence.
- Work in accordance with SMT GB's health, safety, quality and environmental standards.
About You
You’ll be a skilled and motivated engineer who takes pride in delivering quality workmanship and excellent customer service.
You will be capable of working independently while also supporting colleagues as part of a wider team.
- You’ll Ideally Have
- A formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Mechanics or a related discipline.
- Experience repairing and maintaining heavy construction plant equipment.
- Strong technical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, driveline systems and electronics.
- Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and customers.
- Basic IT skills.
- A high level of attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- A reliable, conscientious and professional approach to work.
- The ability to understand and follow technical literature, service bulletins and parts manuals.
Desirable
- Welding, fabrication and line boring experience.
