We are looking for a Field Service Engineer to support our operations across the Birmingham area. This is a field-based role where you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing Volvo construction equipment at customer sites, ensuring we deliver a first-class experience to both internal and external customers.

You will combine strong technical expertise with a commercially focused mindset, identifying service opportunities while delivering efficient and high-quality repairs.

Key responsibilities:
  • Deliver on-site service and maintenance, ensuring machinery is repaired efficiently and customer expectations are consistently met.
  • Service, maintain and repair Volvo construction and associated equipment.
  • Diagnose faults using technical expertise and diagnostic tools, providing clear guidance to customers.
  • Work in line with quotations and time guides, identifying additional work where required.
  • Complete all reports, job cards and timesheets accurately in real time.
  • Identify opportunities to promote additional services and aftermarket solutions.
About you:
  • You will be a skilled and customer-focused engineer, comfortable working independently in a field-based role while maintaining high technical and safety standards.
  • Engineering qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Plant, HGV or similar).
  • Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy plant or construction equipment.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to work flexibly, including overtime and call-outs.
  • Desirable: Experience with welding or fabrication; Advanced knowledge of hydraulics, electrics or emissions systems.
