We are looking for a Service Delivery Manager to supervise the day-to-day operation of the Road Machinery Service Department, ensuring full utilisation of Field Service Engineers and compliance with Health & Safety and dealer operating standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the service coordinator on a day-to-day basis and organise scheduling of breakdowns, engineers and parts.
  • Grow and develop the after-market business and contribute to national goals.
  • Ensure compliance with SMT GB health, safety, quality and environmental standards and delegate them to the team.
  • Maintain customer relationships, establish close liaison, and ensure timely problem resolution.
  • Assist the Road Machinery sales team in demonstration, commissioning and inspection of products.
  • Ensure machine service schedules are adhered to and depot processes are met, including monthly IMS meetings.
  • Escalate performance issues such as absence, grievance, and disciplinary matters.
  • Maintain service vehicles according to company procedure, keeping them clean and serviceable.
  • Carry out van stock checks and tooling support for engineers.
  • Act decisively to facilitate decision-making and manage disputes and complaints.
  • Represent SMT GB values and vision (caring, sharing, daring).
  • Any other duties reasonably requested by the manager.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Full driving licence and prepared to travel as required.
  • Strong communication skills (listening, verbal and written) and ability to develop professional relationships at all levels.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, with a strong sense of ownership and follow-up.
  • Ability to work independently, covering holiday/sickness periods.
  • Decisive, solution-focused and able to deliver on commitments internally and externally.
  • Trust-building and integrity in dealings.
  • Understanding of SMT systems such as PROSIS and IDMS.
  • Experience in managing service operations in a road equipment or mechanical setting preferred.
