We’re looking for an experienced Crane Driver / Operator to join our team in Lowestoft. Reporting to the Dock Master, you’ll play a key role in safely operating mobile cranes, supporting vessel and site operations, and ensuring all lifting activities are carried out efficiently and in line with safety regulations. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, takes pride in their work and prioritises safety at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate cranes to load/unload vessels and lorries
- Set up cranes, including outriggers, counterweights, and boom configurations
- Conduct pre-use safety checks and monitor load weights, stability, and wind conditions
- Interpret lift plans, load charts, and LMI systems
- Coordinate closely with slingers, riggers, and ground teams
- Carry out minor maintenance and report defects
- Maintain accurate records of lifting operations
- Ensure excellent housekeeping across site, vehicles, and equipment
- Support servicing, inspections, and maintenance schedules
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations
What We’re Looking For
- CPCS Mobile Crane Operator (A60) qualification
- Category C1 or C LGV licence (required for road operation)
- Full UK driving licence
- Previous mobile crane operating experience
- Strong understanding of lift plans and technical diagrams
- Excellent coordination, attention to detail, and safety awareness
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Flexible approach to working hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call duties
Working Environment
- Outdoor role in varying weather conditions
- Work at height and in physically demanding environments
- Travel may be required depending on operational needs
