We are seeking an experienced and proactive Project Manager to join our growing team in Lowestoft. This is an exciting opportunity for an organised and commercially aware professional with experience in the marine or civil engineering sector to lead projects from planning through to successful delivery. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget, while maintaining the highest standards of quality, customer service and operational excellence.
About the Role
As Project Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising projects, managing production teams and subcontractors, and ensuring all resources, materials and equipment are available to support efficient project delivery. This role requires a strong focus on problem-solving and project control, identifying risks early, implementing practical solutions, and maintaining progress while effectively managing costs and programme impacts.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring delivery to agreed timescales, budgets and quality standards.
- Cost Tracking & VO/Contract management through project lifespan.
- Supervise production staff and subcontractors, promoting high standards of workmanship, safety and professionalism.
- Develop and maintain project plans, monitoring labour, materials, equipment and subcontracted works against budgets and schedules.
- Provide regular project progress reports to senior management, highlighting risks and potential impacts to programme or cost.
- Manage contract scope and variation orders, ensuring changes are identified, agreed and accurately captured within project invoicing.
- Procure and manage materials, consumables and plant to ensure continuity of project delivery.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring expectations are understood and exceeded wherever possible.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, documentation requirements and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organisation across all work locations and project sites.
- Conduct site visits and surveys to support project planning and quotation activities.
- Prepare and implement project-specific health, safety, environmental and quality documentation before work commences.
- Ensure all required Lifetime Quality Records (LTQRs) and project quality packs are completed and retained.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Proven experience within the marine or civil engineering industry.
- Proven project management experience delivering complex projects successfully.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good commercial awareness, including cost control and budget management.
- The ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, manuals and technical specifications.
- Experience using Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
- A flexible approach and willingness to travel as required.
- A full UK driving licence.
