Permanent position in Kingston Upon Thames: Up to £38,000 OTE plus double rate overtime. Field based.

What will I be doing?

  • Visiting a variety of client sites — from hospitals and schools to commercial and industrial settings — ensuring their water systems are compliant, clean, and safe.
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), sampling, flushing, disinfecting, and chemical treatment of water systems.
  • Performing remedial works, tank cleans, and chlorination.
  • Ensuring compliance with ACOP L8, HSG274, and other water hygiene regulations.
  • Recording and reporting site activities accurately using company systems.
  • Spotting and reporting system issues before they become bigger problems.
  • Representing SMS Environmental professionally with clients on-site.
  • Supporting and mentoring newer engineers as part of a collaborative team.

What do I need to be successful?

  • Proven experience in water hygiene, treatment, or Legionella control.
  • Understanding of water hygiene legislation and best practice.
  • Clear and confident communication with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to work well independently and manage time effectively.
  • City & Guilds qualification (or equivalent) in Water Hygiene.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to pass Disclosure and Barring Service clearance (Enhanced DBS check).
  • Bonus points if you have a knack for problem-solving and love a job that keeps you moving and learning.
