With 24 years of industry leadership, SMS Environmental sits in the top 5% of UK water treatment providers. We specialise in Legionella control, water treatment, and air quality management.
Due to continued growth, we’re expanding our field-based Risk Assessment team across the UK. You’ll work with a wide variety of sites — from homes and offices to schools, care homes, and healthcare facilities — delivering UKAS-aligned Legionella Risk Assessments that genuinely protect people. You’ll be trusted to manage your work, supported by a strong Quality & Compliance team, and rewarded for the value you deliver.
What’s in it for me?
- Base salary: up to £35,000
- Bonus: up to £6,000 per year (£500 monthly)
- Overtime: paid at 30% of project value

What will I be doing?
- Delivering Legionella Risk Assessments across a wide range of building types
- Ensuring compliance with ACoP L8, HSG274 Part 2, BS 8580-1, and relevant guidance
- Identifying, assessing, and clearly explaining Legionella risks to clients
- Diagnosing issues within water and plumbing systems and recommending remedial actions
- Working closely with our internal Quality Assurance team to ensure reports meet regulatory standards
- Promoting best practice in Health & Safety at all sites
This is a field-based role, so regular UK travel is part of the job — but you’ll be supported, equipped, and paid fairly for it.
What do I need to be successful?
- Experience within the Water Hygiene industry and/or conducting Risk Assessments
- Strong working knowledge of Legionella risk identification and control
- Confidence communicating technical risks in a clear, client-focused way
- Good understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation
- Full UK driving licence
- Comfortable using tablets, smartphones, and digital reporting tools
Desirable (but not essential):
- Approved Legionella Risk Assessor qualification (City & Guilds, BOHS, WMSoc, etc.)
