Description

With 24 years of industry experience, SMS Environmental specialises in water treatment and air quality management, ranking in the top 5% of UK service providers. Due to growth, we need a Legionella Risk Assessor to deliver water system surveys and risk assessments to community‑based customers across a variety of building types such as residences, offices, schools, commercial sites, care homes and healthcare facilities. The role is field‑based and requires regular travel.

Your Legionella Risk Assessor Role

• Ensure compliance with ACoP L8, HSG274 part 2, BS 8580‑1 and other relevant industry standards and guidance.
• Promote and support health & safety regulatory standards and practice at site and in service delivery.
• Problem‑solve/diagnose faults within plumbing systems and recommend maintenance and remedial work.
• Coordinate with the SMS Quality Control/Assurance team to deliver documentation that meets regulatory standards.

Essential Requirements

• Career history within the Water Hygiene Industry or conducting risk assessments.
• Experience building key client relationships to assess Legionella risks.
• Effective communication of Legionella details and client‑focused solutions.
• Knowledge of UK health & safety regulatory legislation and practice.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to use technology (tablet and smartphone).

Desirable

• Approved Legionella Risk Assessor qualification (e.g., City & Guilds, BOHS, WMSoc); certification can be arranged for experienced candidates.

All roles require a DBS check; SMS Environmental covers the cost if not already obtained.
