The Role: Estimator
Prepare timely and competitive estimates for providing services across the company’s range of business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise with sales and accounts management staff to understand what clients want.
- Price all jobs using proven standards, estimating non-standard work in conjunction with the Estimation Manager.
- Prepare estimates for costing new contracts, assessing material, labour, equipment and transport costs.
- Analyse different quotes from sub-contractors and suppliers.
- Produce costing and estimates for tenders and bids.
- Provide new cost estimates for existing jobs/contracts and make amendments, as appropriate.
- Adhere to company standards and guidelines on maximising profit and customer satisfaction, while minimising any potential risks when analysing and providing estimations.
- Keep detailed records of all estimation documentation, including all assessments and contract terms.
- Recommend cost saving potential to management.
Key Requirements:
- Extensive practical experience of estimating within the print industry.
- Experience in using industry MI Systems (Tharstern an advantage).
- A comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Excel.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to undertake financial analysis.
- Problem solving ability.
- Ability to communicate well, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to build strong inter departmental relationships.
- Organisational skills.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines.
