With offices in Australia, US and the UK, Smokeball is the leading provider of legal practice management software helping small and mid-size legal practices run their best firm and live their best life. We’re passionate about what we do, and our clients know it! Not to brag, but we’ve been awarded #1 spot in Australia’s “Great Places to Work” for 2026 and have been in the top 6 by Wrk+ and “Great Places to Work” 3 years running. Culture plays a big part in our success, and our clear purpose and vision motivates us daily.
About the Role
We’re looking for a hands‑on, commercially sharp Head of Sales to lead our next phase of growth in the UK. We’ve already built a solid foundation in the market. Now we’re shifting into growth mode and this role is about turning that foundation into a repeatable, scalable sales engine. This isn’t a role for someone who just manages a number. We’re looking for someone who builds. Someone who can get into the detail, shape outbound strategy from the ground up, and lead from the front as we scale. You’ll have the backing of an established Australian head office and growing US team – with proven playbooks, product strength, and support behind you – but with the autonomy to adapt and win in the UK market.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to achieve and exceed revenue targets: Combining inbound and outbound funnel strategies to maintain consistent pipeline
- Build and lead a fast paced, high-performing sales organisation: Hire, structure, and develop the team to support growth
- Set clear roles, targets, and performance expectations
- Foster a coaching culture to raise performance and support the professional development of your team
- Stay close to deals and customers by joining key sales calls and product demos, coaching in real time and setting the standard for how we sell
- Track the right metrics — pipeline health, conversion, activity
- Use data to identify what’s working and where to adjust
- Act as a voice of the UK market: Ensure we stay tightly aligned to the needs of SMB law firms
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with marketing, product, and other teams to ensure a cohesive approach to market expansion
- Analyse market trends and competitor activities to formulate effective sales strategies
About You
- An accomplished sales leader with at least 10 years of sales experience and a minimum of 7 years leading sales teams in SaaS
- Have a growth mindset. No big ego that gets in the way of learning: You are curious, collaborative, and good with objective feedback
- Proven track record of success in SaaS sales leadership and in hiring top talent
- Comfortable balancing strategic leadership with hands‑on involvement, including joining customer conversations and demos to support the team
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong understanding of the UK market with established networks
What We Offer
- A dynamic and inclusive work environment
- Competitive salary and performance‑based incentives
- Wellbeing allowance
- The chance to be a key player in shaping the company’s success in the UK
- Company provided AI licenses to support productivity
