Smiths has grown from a single owner-operated plant hire company to a multifaceted group with family values still firmly at the heart of each project undertaken. With depots in Avonmouth, Cardiff, Gloucester, Stonehouse and Tewkesbury we operate predominately across the South-West of England. We specialise in Construction, Waste Management, Plant Hire, Demolition and Transport operations.

This is a permanent role based within our Construction team out on sites in South Wales and the South-West.

Responsibilities for the job role as a skilled groundworker:

  • All aspects of Groundworks
  • Drainage and ducting
  • Digging footings whilst having an understanding pf plans and datum
  • Externals and finishing’s (slabbing, kerbing, paving)
  • Concreting
  • Complying with Health and Safety policy and procedures
  • General labouring
  • Ensuring company property is looked after

The successful candidate will carry out:

  • All aspects of Groundworks
  • Drainage and ducting
  • Digging footings whilst having an understanding pf plans and datum
  • Externals and finishing’s (slabbing, kerbing, paving)
  • Concreting
  • Complying with Health and Safety policy and procedures
  • General labouring
  • Ensuring company property is looked after
  • Have ability to work as part of a team
  • Have ability to think ahead and consider the job in hand
  • Ability to use of power tools
  • Have an understanding/reading drawing
  • Be self-motivated, keen to learn, conscientious and prepared to work in all weather conditions
  • Be reliable and punctual
