This newly created role within the Finance Business Partnering team exists to support the Smiths News operation with reporting, analysis and insight. Smiths News operates a network of 33 distribution centres and depots, you will work alongside the Finance Business Partner for Operations and operational colleagues to bring insight into their performance, support with budgeting and forecasting and work on projects aimed at improving reporting and analysis and embedding a performance mindset across the sites.
About the Role- Supporting the Finance Business Partner – Operations with regular weekly reporting
- Supporting the preparation of the monthly Operations Financial Review presentation for the Operations Director and CFO.
- Supporting the budgeting and forecasting processes for the operation using a combination of Excel and IBM Planning Analytics.
- Develop and report on metrics aligned with the Operations Performance team, ensuring one version of the truth which brings clear insight into performance.
- Performance benchmarking across sites, identifying best practice and opportunities for improvement.
- Supporting with tracking cost efficiency initiatives across the sites and reporting against the overall productivity targets.
- Using excellent organization and planning capabilities to ensure promises are delivered and deadlines are met without any compromise to quality of output.
- Bringing a critical eye and a continuous improvement mindset, working with the wider Business Partnering team and Management Accounting team to drive reporting and process improvements.

- Experience with financial reporting and analysis tools (e.g. SAP, HFM, IBM Planning Analytics, Power BI)
- Exceptional attention to detail and eye for accuracy
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Personable, reliable, hardworking, conscientious
- Ability to manage in ambiguous situations and with conflicting deadlines
- Curious to understand the business, the drivers of performance and the levers available to influence it
