We have a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer working within the Design - Test Equipment team reporting to the Test Equipment Design Engineer Lead. As a Mechanical Engineer – Test Equipment you will be responsible for designing test equipment for John Crane’s high end gas seals technology whilst liaising with our international service centres. This role is suited to someone who has a strong mechanical background looking at hands on problem solving as well as being involved in the design of test equipment. This role is based from our headquarters within Slough working Monday to Friday normal office hours.

Duties & Responsibilities (not limited to):
- To design, using CAD, and maintain technical drawings and data for testing equipment used on both John Crane Gas and Wet seals.
- Working hands on being involved in problem solving for test equipment.
- To ensure designs are to correct standards regarding safety and design practices.
- To manage the movement of test equipment between John Crane Service centres and storage within the Slough site.
- Run reports to ensure test equipment is available for seals in order book / test plan.
- Support suppliers that use tooling designed or originally used by John Crane.
- Obtain quotes and off load work that cannot be manufactured in house to correct sub-contractor.
- Load parts that can be made into Slough machine shop.
- Supports operations with issues with test rigs and test equipment.
- Participates in CI events with regard to storage and process relating to test equipment.
Qualifications:
- Studies in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Previous experience in a design engineering role, with good experience of 2D & 3D CAD.
- Strong Mechanical knowledge and some knowledge of creating / updating / maintaining databases.
- Experience / knowledge of rotating equipment and high-pressure test equipment – ideally.
- A resource-oriented person, with an innovative mind.
- Quick thinker with excellent problem-solving skills.
