Smiths Group is looking for a proactive HR Generalist to join our London team. You’ll be a trusted partner to leaders and employees, providing expert HR support across the full employee lifecycle and playing a key role in shaping an engaged, high‑performing, and compliant workplace. Join our collaborative HR team on a fixed‑term contract as you step in to provide maternity cover, starting in March 2026 with a thorough handover from the current post holder. As part of this full‑time, five‑day role, you’ll spend four days each week at our Blackfriars HQ - immersed in a supportive, energetic workplace right in the heart of London.
What you’ll do:
- Lead ER casework from start to finish, ensuring fair, timely outcomes.
- Deliver core HR cycle activities including performance management, benefits, reward, and engagement initiatives.
- Support organisational change, policy updates, consultations, and communications.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition and hiring managers on recruitment and onboarding.
- Maintain accurate HR data and coordinate with HR Shared Services.
- Deliver training, briefings, and coaching on HR processes and initiatives.
What You’ll Bring:
- Solid HR Generalist experience in a large or complex organisation, with strong working knowledge of UK HR employment law.
- Strong track record managing ER cases independently.
- Experience supporting change programmes (e.g., restructures, redundancies, TUPE).
- Confident advisor with excellent judgement and relationship‑building skills.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communicator with a collaborative, approachable style.
