This role provides essential support to the delivery of Smiths Excellence (SE) training programmes.

As an apprentice, you will help with day-to-day tasks such as answering participant questions, assisting with training logistics, running reports, analysing data and keeping records accurate and up to date.

You’ll work closely with the team to help schedule sessions, issue certificates, and support project reviews for Yellow Belt, Green Belt, and Black Belt programmes.

A key part of the role is learning how to use the Learning Management System (LMS) to update records, run simple reports, and help maintain data accuracy.

This is a great opportunity to develop organisational and communication skills while gaining experience in training administration and process governance.

You will also complete an 18 month apprenticeship program provided by BPP.

Duties

  • Training Administration
  • Support belted training initiatives by contributing to planning, scheduling, and delivery of programmes.
  • Maintain the training calendar on SE Share Point, including coordination of training schedules and distribution of Workgroup/Mural links.
  • Partner with global teams to align and execute belted training schedules as per the SE training plan.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of training nominations and attendance in SE Tracker.
  • Compile, consolidate, and summarise post-training feedback for reporting purposes.
  • Administer closures of Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt or Green Belt application projects, including document verification, certificate issuance, and completion of required documentation.
  • Support Divisional SE colleagues in scheduling tollgate reviews and project closures for belted programmes.
  • Track and update belted application project documentation.
  • Prepare and upload completed project binders (GB/BB) to SE Share Point/MS Teams channels.
  • Administer external belt certification processes and integrate externally certified Green Belts into SE records.
  • Update the Full-Time Black Belt tracker and issue BACC certificates upon request.
  • Update belted project termination and leaver status across relevant systems.
  • Administer documentation updates for employee leavers to maintain data integrity.
  • Support updates to the LSS Directory (Black Belt and Green Belt) on SE Share Point, ensuring data accuracy.
  • Provide administrative support for training activities, including updating trackers with global training details and attendance.
  • Scheduling of training, administering and completing all other supportive tasks for the booking and running of internal training courses – such as belted training or leadership training to support Divisions.
  • Respond to participant and stakeholder queries on training sessions and SE Academy activities.
  • Carry out any additional tasks required to support the SE training function as needed.
  • Manage dashboard and reporting from Share Point in terms of SE academy reporting.
  • Learning Management System (LMS) Administration
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the LMS and Smiths Excellence Academy, including user management, course uploads, and reporting.
  • Plan and coordinate Excellence learning and development courses, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Generate and analyse LMS usage reports to track engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Issue completion certificates globally to learners upon successful course completion.
  • Support content creators and trainers in uploading and structuring learning materials.
  • Manage course revalidation requirements or certification expiry notifications for training content requiring routine recertification.
  • Troubleshoot LMS and Academy platform issues and liaise with vendors or IT support as needed.
  • Continually assess for areas of continuous improvement or automation opportunities within the team.
  • Responsible for administration of the Learning Management System including creating new user accounts, responding to access issues and enrolment of internal users to online courses where required.
  • Manage Global Learning Resource (GLR) reporting and data cleansing.
  • Respond to GLR queries and course allocation requests or errors.
  • Monitor course review dates in GLR and send to course owner for review in accordance with the course review timeline.
  • Assist with the upload of new training content to the LMS, including SCORM and CMI5 files and testing of these courses within the LMS area.
  • Complete administration tasks to support the Training team, such as creation of digital feedback forms, reformatting of presentations and other admin tasks as seen fit.
  • Power BI & Share Point Support
  • Continually improve and develop the Smiths Excellence Share Point page, with support.
  • Manage the Smiths Excellence Hoppering Process – screening new ideas and filtering unachievable ideas in Share Point.
  • Manage dashboard and reporting from Share Point in terms of SE academy reporting.
  • Design and maintain Power BI dashboards for Smiths Excellence.
  • Provide user support and training for Power BI and Share Point users.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of Share Point sites, ensuring content is innovative, up-to-date and accessible.
  • Monitor training & development change requests received through Share Point and allocate actions to task owners for completion.

Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Interest or experience in administration of training, LMS’s or other related areas.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products including Power BI and Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with Share Point or website management, Share Point page and list building, and content organisation.
  • Good problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and own own development journey.
