This role holder supports the Group Smiths Excellence Training Team. This role involves the design and development of digital media assets and contents for our online training solutions and communications, provided to customers both internal and commercial. The role holder will be proficient in their technical skills designing and developing digital media assets including eLearning, video, 3D modelling, animation and gamification of learning.

The role holder will directly support and advise the Senior Manager for Training & Documentation. This role will be key in delivering on the Learning & Development requirements of our worldwide target audiences and across a variety of different market sectors ensuring content is aligned with the Smiths Group's global standards and policies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Creation of innovative, immersive multi-media solutions for digital training in multiple sectors and cultures with differing requirements.
  • Design and delivery of eLearning material to support the global organisation.
  • Design of multi-media contents from concept to delivery based on common design principles and procedures.
  • Creation of UI (User Interface) design inline with Smiths branding guidelines for the learning platform or content.
  • Creation of UX (User Experience) design ensuring that training is intuitive, accessible, and satisfying to use.
  • Ability to work with projects that include film creation and editing as well as 3D modelling and animation.
  • Extensive experience working with Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator and After Effects.
  • Ability to use a combination of 2D/3D packages such as Blender.
  • Ability to use common eLearning development tools such as Articulate.
  • Ensure multiple projects are delivered on time, within budget and delivering a 100% accurate learner's journey.
  • Collaborate with a breadth of global stakeholders and subject matter experts internally.
  • Delivery of multiple complex programmes.
  • Provision of advice on opportunities and risks related to multi-media development.
  • Support the continuous improvement of digital training policy and adhere to existing digital training development guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with Marketing, Creative Media, Divisional HR, Product Specialists to support the needs of the business.
  • Provide expert consultancy to others in the creation and implementation of multi-media contents as well as in UI and UX design.
  • Creates all media assets, including video pieces, voice overs, scripts delivered to camera, 3D models, games, event graphics and all other assets.
  • Skilled in the world of animation, creating animated assets for eLearning and ensuring all content is engaging.
  • Can build interactive, engaging eLearning in Storyline Articulate.
  • Can create poster assets, branded items and all other media assets using practiced graphic design skills.
  • Works with SMEs to create HSE, Excellence and Learning assets.
  • Create engaging, effective learning experiences using instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM).
  • Maintenance of training material and media assets, ensuring it is constantly updated in line with training feedback and improved using emerging technology.
  • Develop storyboards, lesson plans, and digital assessments aligned with learning objectives.
  • Work with subject matter experts (SMEs), trainers, and project managers to gather requirements and validate content across Smiths Group.
  • Ensure accessibility and positive learner experience delivered within all training modules.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

  • Education: Degree in a related subject is preferable but evidence of experience gained from some years as a professional Multimedia or UI/UX Designer is acceptable.
  • Knowledge/Skills: Skilled in the design of graphics, multimedia and eLearning content across a range of subjects.
  • Strong communication and troubleshooting skills are required, being able to respond in a timely manner to global staff from different time zones.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Individual must be highly skilled and proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work in an international team communicating across different cultures and time-zones.
  • Experience of working with projects that include video creation and editing, 3D modelling, animation and gamification of learning.
  • Extensive experience working with Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator and After Effects.
  • Skills and experience using Unity desirable.
  • Ability to use a combination of 2D/3D packages such as Blender.
  • Ability to use common eLearning development tools such as Articulate would be desirable.
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging storyboards to target the creation of multimedia assets and eLearning.
