Smiths has grown from a single owner-operated plant hire company to a multifaceted group with family values still firmly at the heart of each project undertaken. With depots in Avonmouth, Cardiff, Gloucester, Stonehouse and Tewkesbury we operate predominately across the South-West of England. We specialise in Construction, Waste Management, Plant Hire, Demolition and Transport operations.

Smiths is a leading contractor specialising in demolition and construction services in the South-West and South Wales. With a strong reputation for safety, quality, and innovation, we are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee our Demolition projects and ensure successful execution from start to finish.

Responsibilities for the job role:

  • Responsible for day-to-day management of site projects and site teams
  • Undertaking and writing Risk Assessments, safe systems of work and general project specific health and safety documents
  • Preparation method statements
  • Briefing site staff on all health and safety aspects of each job
  • Line management of site Supervisors and Operatives
  • Professional communications with all stakeholders
  • Delivering projects on time and to budget
  • Recruitment and induction of site staff
  • Reactive management of issues as they arise
  • Completing all project paperwork
  • Approving timesheets and managing absence

Skills and certification required:

  • SSSTS
  • SMSTS
  • CCDO (desirable but not essential)
  • Asbestos Managers Certificate (desirable but not essential)
  • Full UK Driving License
  • Proven experience of successful management projects
