Smiths has grown from a single owner-operated plant hire company to a multifaceted group with family values still firmly at the heart of each project undertaken. With depots in Avonmouth, Cardiff, Gloucester, Stonehouse and Tewkesbury we operate predominately across the South-West of England. We specialise in Construction, Waste Management, Plant Hire, Demolition and Transport operations.This is a permanent employed position based within our Construction team out on sites in South Wales and the South-West. We are looking for a skilled groundworker, successful candidates must have experience in groundwork.

Responsibilities for the job role as skilled groundworker
- All aspects of Groundworks
- Drainage and ducting
- Digging footings whilst having an understanding pf plans and datum
- Externals and finishing’s (slabbing, kerbing, paving)
- Concreting
- Complying with Health and Safety policy and procedures
- General labouring
- Ensuring company property is looked after
The successful candidate will carry out
- All aspects of Groundworks
- Drainage and ducting
- Digging footings whilst having an understanding pf plans and datum
- Externals and finishing’s (slabbing, kerbing, paving)
- Concreting
- Complying with Health and Safety policy and procedures
- General labouring
- Ensuring company property is looked after
- Have ability to work as part of a team
- Have ability to think ahead and consider the job in hand
- Ability to use of power tools
- Have an understanding/reading drawing
- Be self-motivated, keen to learn, conscientious and prepared to work in all weather conditions
- Be reliable and punctual
