Smiths has grown from a single owner-operated plant hire company to a multifaceted group with family values still firmly at the heart of each project undertaken. With depots in Avonmouth, Cardiff, Gloucester, Stonehouse and Tewkesbury we operate predominately across the South-West of England. We specialise in Construction, Waste Management, Plant Hire, Demolition and Transport operations.

Responsibilities for the job role:

  • The successful candidate will preferably have previous experience in driving tippers.
  • You will be primarily driving fully and thoroughly maintained Scania tippers, following a one week on-boarding induction with a senior driver.
  • You will be required to drive other vehicles if the need arises, including but not limited to sweepers & skip lorries, after full training is provided.
  • The successful candidate will maintain a high standard to cleanliness and safety with any vehicle that is provided.
  • To complete work that is allocated to you in a productive and timely manner, ensuring the needs and requirements of our clients are met, whilst adhering to Road Transport legislation and fulfilling the Company's obligations.
  • Be technology literate to work on phones and tablets in order to record work.
  • The successful candidate will have a good attitude, be prepared to work hard and be flexible.
  • Candidates must hold a valid DCPC and a current Category C licence, MPQC/EPIC card desirable.
  • The successful candidate must be capable of communicating at all levels and understanding written and verbal instructions.
