Smiths Hire are the Largest Independent Equipment Hire company with 19 Hire It Centres located across the Region. Currently in a period of expansion across the business, we now have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HGV Equipment Delivery Driver based at our Trafford Park Depot but will be covering and delivering equipment for all our other depots.
To be successful in this position we seek experienced drivers who have the ability to carry out the following key responsibilities:
- Carry out daily and weekly vehicle checks ensuring any defects found are reported to the Fleet Manager.
- Keep an accurate record of deliveries and collections using delivery documentation.
- Ensure that any equipment on the vehicle is secured and protected where necessary.
- Collect any money due on the delivery / collection as instructed.
- Maintain product knowledge in order to demonstrate to customers where necessary.
- Demonstrate a high level of customer services and the ability to work in a fast paced, team environment.
- Covering other HGV driver at other depots at times in absence or holidays.
This is a manual position, so ideally we seek applicants who are physically fit as you will be responsible for managing your own jobs as well as loading goods on and off your vehicle. An understanding of safe loading and towing processes would be highly beneficial.
It is also essential that you are a qualified driver and that you have the correct industry specific licensing, so you must have all (or some) of the following:
- UK Manual Driving License.
- Class 2 licence with experience in driving Class 2 vehicles.
- Valid CPC card.
- DIGI Card.
Finally, we want you to be a successful part of our team portraying a professional, smart appearance to all customers, potential customers and other people you meet in the course of your work, taking a pride in yourself and your vehicle.
This is a full-time position working hours are: Monday to Friday.
