We are looking for a Graduate HSE Coordinator to join our global Health, Safety, Security & Compliance team at Smiths Detection. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early‑career professional to begin or further develop a career in health, safety, and compliance within a complex, international environment. You will gain hands‑on experience across multiple areas of HSE, working closely with operational teams and senior leadership to support safe and compliant business practices. The role offers broad exposure across field service, manufacturing, engineering, and customer site environments, providing a strong foundation for long‑term career development. This is a hybrid role from Hemel Hempstead, but will include some travel to some of our largest customers in the UK.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting the implementation of HSE policies, procedures, and compliance standards
  • Assisting with risk assessments, incident reporting, and investigations
  • Coordinating audits, inspections, and safety initiatives across multiple sites
  • Maintaining accurate HSE records, documentation, and compliance data
  • Producing reports, dashboards, and performance metrics to support decision‑making
  • Supporting security and regulatory compliance activities, including contractor management
  • Assisting with training coordination, onboarding, and employee engagement initiatives
  • Working with cross‑functional teams to promote a strong safety culture.

Qualifications:

  • A degree (or equivalent experience) in Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field
  • A strong interest in building a career in HSE, compliance, or operational safety
  • Knowledge of health and safety principles or regulations (NEBOSH desirable or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Analytical mindset, with an interest in data, reporting, and continuous improvement
  • Confident communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel essential; Power BI advantageous)
  • Eligible to obtain UK SC Clearance.
