At Smith+Nephew, we design and manufacture technology that takes the limits off living! The Global HR Technology function is part of the HR organisation, responsible for delivering solutions that improve or enhance the way Human Resources is delivered at Smith & Nephew, and handles HR technology programs, vendors, and operations. The group works with various HR organisations and IT on projects to re-engineer and automate processes that improve efficiencies.

This role involves a high level of relationship management so that the HR function and our HR technology partners continue to champion and develop a partnership to drive simplification, standardisation and automation for long-term success of the HR operating model. You will proactively find opportunities to further leverage best-in-class technology and minimise technology debt that hinders long-term scalability and work to drive and implement best practice across all platforms, digital innovation, process automation, and emerging technologies that fit business requirements. This is a fixed term contract opportunity - running until December 2026.

What will you be doing?

  • Contribute to the development of Workday's strategic direction and the HR technology roadmap, set standards, and help monitor the service’s overall performance.
  • Influence both internal/external best-practices to maximise cost effectiveness, aligned with business needs.
  • Follow legal requirements and reflect HR best-practice benchmarks.
  • Act as Workday Compensation & Benefits SME with full autonomy for the global alignment, solution design, delivery and maintenance of the functional specialism and be responsible for configuration and support of solutions for our global customers.
  • Work closely with Reward and Benefits teams, understand business needs and requirements to ensure that the Workday performs to the desired business outcomes.
  • Act as a champion for customer focus and listen to and connect with customers and team members effectively; ensuring that procedures and systems are in place to advise and receive feedback from service users, partners, stakeholders and colleagues, and evaluating that feedback, taking appropriate action to secure continuous improvement.

What will you need to be successful?

  • Deep expertise in Workday’s Compensation and Benefits modules, including hands-on configuration of compensation plans, pay components, and global benefits administration.
  • A strong grasp of business process configuration, EIBs, and eligibility rules is essential, along with the ability to translate user needs into system solutions.
  • Proficiency in report writing, dashboards, and calculated fields is desirable, as is familiarity with project and change management practices.
  • Effective stakeholder management will also be key to your success.
