This full-time on-site Family Solicitor role is based in Bishop Auckland. The Family Solicitor will manage a caseload of family law matters, including divorce, financial settlements, child arrangements, and other relationship-related disputes. Day-to-day responsibilities include advising clients, drafting and reviewing legal documents, negotiating settlements, and representing clients in court or at hearings as required. The role involves working closely with colleagues to ensure cases progress efficiently, maintaining accurate file records, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and firm policies. The Family Solicitor will also contribute to business development activities, such as client relationship management and assisting with local networking or marketing initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in Family Law, including divorce, financial remedies, and child-related matters.
  • Working understanding of related areas of Law that may intersect with family matters, such as civil, private client, or litigation.
  • Awareness of Conveyancing and Commercial Real Estate issues that may arise in family cases, such as property division or transfers.
  • Qualified solicitor with a current practicing certificate and relevant post-qualification experience in family work.
  • Excellent client-care, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly.
  • Strong drafting, time-management, and organisational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage a busy caseload.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and maintain professional standards of ethics, confidentiality, and compliance.
  • Experience working in a high-street firm environment and familiarity with LEAP case management systems is beneficial.
  • Experience in Litigation would also be an advantage.
