We are currently looking for a Senior Development Technologist who will be responsible for delivering and implementing designated projects, incorporating the underlying science, technological support and manufacturing process that fulfil the needs of the project and therefore the business.

What will you be doing?

  • Technical Investigations (50%): Define the overall strategy for designing and developing products, developing manufacturing processes, and ensure this strategy is reviewed and agreed within the NPD team.
  • Project Delivery (25%): Ensure identification and delivery of all activities necessary to support design and manufacture of products for designated projects in compliance with relevant quality management systems.
  • Project Control (5%): Responsible for forecasting and control of the project spend associated with the technical work.
  • Team Management (10%): Coach and manage technical and project team members to meet the needs of the business. Deputise for the Programme Manager as required.
  • Compliance (5%): Provide the major interface between the project and design control activities, ensuring compliance with FDA, BSI and other regulatory bodies.
  • Health & Safety (5%): Promote health and safety policies and procedures to encourage a safe working environment.

What will you need to be successful?

  • An honours degree in a scientific discipline + proven and significant experience in a technical role within a new product development environment. Or science A-levels + substantial relevant experience in a new product development environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology relevant to new product development within the medical device sector is highly desirable.
  • Practical experience of using design control standards, technical work systems, and verification and validation systems.
  • Effective planning, budgeting, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to facilitate decisions with a large team and range of levels.
  • Knowledge of documentation systems and the regulatory field associated with EU Class III products within medical devices is highly desirable.
  • Ability to demonstrate and utilise creative and problem-solving tools, e.g.: FMEA, PROBLEM, etc.
