Deptford, London SE8 | Night shift (approx. 8pm - 6am)

About Us

Smith & Brock is a proudly family‑run fresh produce and fine foods business, supplying London's best hotels, restaurants, and caterers. We believe in quality without compromise, honest sourcing, and looking after our people. Every role here is part of something bigger, getting exceptional food from growers to tables, and doing it with care.

The role

We're looking for a highly organised and proactive Operations Executive to join our night team. This is a critical overnight role at the heart of our operation; you'll own the coordination of night‑time run management, invoicing, shortage handling, driver assignments, and reporting, ensuring everything is in order before the day team arrives. If you thrive working independently, take pride in accuracy, and want a role where your contribution is felt every single morning, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Closing and invoicing early run dispatches, processing amendments, and assigning jobs to drivers on our system
  • Monitoring run completion and managing shortage sheets from print‑off through to final sign‑off
  • Logging picking errors throughout the shift, recording causes accurately in our designated system
  • Handling shortages and amending invoices as required
  • Running Deferral Reports and Picking Reports
  • Coordinating with the warehouse team on any missing prepared items, verifying stock and ensuring issues are resolved and documented
  • Preparing and submitting Prep Reports
  • Completing Waste Sheets accurately within the required time windows
  • Supporting a clean, thorough handover to the day team each morning

What We're Looking For

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously under time pressure
  • Confident working independently through the night, making decisions with minimal supervision
  • Good communication skills — you'll be liaising with drivers, warehouse teams, and colleagues across the business
  • Experience in an operations, logistics, or warehouse coordination role is an advantage
  • Comfortable with systems, spreadsheets, and WhatsApp‑based workflows
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to high standards every shift

What's In It For You

  • Enjoy a weekly shop of fresh fruit and veg at cost price
  • Refer a friend bonus
  • Extra day off for your birthday
  • Earned wage access, get paid early before payday
  • 30% off at Sylva Café
  • Uniform and PPE provided
  • Career progression, we grow our own talent, and many of our team have built long careers with us
