Purpose of the Role
At Smiley, we are a small, dedicated team doing big things; positivity, agility, and adaptability are critical for this fast-paced role. We are seeking a generalist Marketing & PR Manager to drive public relations and event management across the global business. You will manage brand assets, execute trade marketing strategies, and lead major trade shows and consumer events. By collaborating across all departments, you will ensure the successful and consistent global promotion of the brand worldwide. This role sits within the Marketing department reporting directly to our Chief Marketing Officer.
Brand Marketing and Partnerships:
- Management and ownership of brand assets, and understanding of brand guidelines
- Management of the creation of brand collateral including brochures, case studies, guidelines, marketing calendars, territory overviews, brand infographics, etc.
- Work closely with designers, providing comprehensive briefs, progress tracking, and seamless handover of assets once completed
- Collaborate and support with Sales, Product, Leadership, Digital, and Finance teams as needed
- Liaising with categories on new product launches and opportunities to promote partner products
- Provide market insights and data concepts to commercial teams
- Management and reporting of company documents and systems, e.g. Docsend
- Ensure successful implementation and compliance with brand guidelines
Trade Marketing & Events:
- Develop and execute trade marketing strategies to promote the business
- Plan and participate in partner-facing brand presentations, including bi-annual Smiley Licensee Summits
- Management and execution of trade advertising
- Management and delivery of all trade shows including stand design, stand builds, event & budget management, both in-person and remote
- Act as a central point of contact for third-party suppliers
- Post show reports and attendee list distribution
PR:
- Curate media lists for licensing trade press, B2B trade publications, and consumer publications
- Create and distribute press releases and press materials
- Proactively pitch and secure coverage for product and thought leadership stories
- Manage and execute all PR first activations
- Industry Award Submissions - ensuring all deadlines are met as well as researching relevant awards (Licensing Excellence Awards, Licensing Awards UK, B&LLAs, etc)
- Upload press releases and imagery to website
- Monitoring trade and consumer media for competitor news
CMS:
- Write and implement content for B2B focused website
- Work with digital teams to ensure strong SEO performance across website channels
- Increase website MQLs for the sales team
- Consistent content development for website across product, partner, and business news
CRM:
- Plan and implement all email campaigns - bi-annuals, bi-weekly, event invitations etc.
- Manage customer data and feedback
Special Projects:
- Support in the management and execution of any brand & special project, e.g. Anniversary campaigns
- Support the maintenance and development of internal marketing processes, and systems, such as Monday.com, Google Drive, and CMS
- Support Smiley Movement and the Charity Film Awards where needed
Project Management:
- Strong project management
- Implement and own critical paths from inception to delivery across all work streams
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders across work streams regarding status and delivery
- Ownership and budget management across trade marketing, PR, and events
Key Skills & Experience:
- 4+ years’ experience in PR, Event Management, and Trade Marketing
- Experience in both B2B and B2C industries
- A vibrant and positive attitude to work & ability to adapt quickly with a can-do attitude
- Must be able to work independently at pace.
- Experience in managing budgets and working with suppliers to ensure actionable results
- Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders and influence at all levels including C suite.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to work with sales team to ensure results
- Ability to understand data and develop an insight informed approach
- Strong planning and organisational skills with attention to detail
- Strong digital first copywriting capabilities, in both short and long form
- Event management experience particularly with trade shows and consumer events
- Knowledge of licensing media and consumer media
- Experience working with global partners and cross-market activations
- Experience within licensing businesses/ brands
- A well rounded and current understanding of the global fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands
