The Role
As a Senior Support Worker (Nights), you'll guide colleagues through steady overnight shifts where safety, comfort and continuity of care are the priority. You'll make sure children and young people with complex disabilities are supported with dignity and consistency through the night, and that handovers are smooth for the day team.
Location: Lewes
Salary: From £30,087 per annum
Hours: 33 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on night shifts, helping organise and guide colleagues; role-modelling safe practice.
- Support your Team Manager with training, onboarding and supervision of colleagues.
- Provide safe, person-centred care (personal care, mobility, health monitoring, comfort).
- Prepare and administer medication safely, once fully trained.
- Support night-time routines and ensure continuity of care between shifts.
- Ensure safeguarding, compliance, accurate reporting and risk management.
- Build clear communication with families, professionals and the daytime team through effective handovers.
Skills And Qualifications
- Experience supervising or coaching colleagues, ideally in a residential social care setting.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, compliance, CQC/Ofsted standards, and medication procedures.
- A calm, resilient and positive approach, with good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts (including some weekends/public holidays) and to join the on-call rota.
- A passion for supporting children and young people with complex disabilities.
- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent).
- GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- Full UK driving licence is desirable.
