Smiley £24,796-£25,989 per annum (FTE) pro rata £14.77-£15.76 per hour, including holiday allowance. Vacancy Type: Fixed term until 31 August 2026 Hours: Part‑time, 2.5 days per week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Saturday morning) Role Overview The Learning Support Assistant will support students with special educational needs, developing and implementing care plans, facilitating learning and promoting inclusion. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with SENCO and teaching staff to develop and review individual student care plans. Assist students to learn effectively in group sessions and independently by clarifying instructions, ensuring correct use of equipment, motivating, and encouraging progress. Support students in weaker areas identified by SENCO and teachers, helping them concentrate on and complete work. Provide basic literacy and maths sessions, run SEN clubs, and offer personal care when required. Maintain accurate progress records, observations and keep records of student development. Participate in departmental and college meetings, as well as performance management and continuing professional development programmes. Establish supportive relationships with students, encouraging acceptance, inclusion and self‑esteem. Liaise with departments and Learner Interaction Contact (LIC) to provide wrap‑around support. Skills and Competencies Clear and tactful communication, with awareness of the impact on others. Ability to build positive relationships and work flexibly as part of a team. Strong multi‑tasking, pressure management and organisational skills. Resilience and adaptability in daily responsibilities. Effective prioritisation, deadline‑management and willingness to take responsibility. Qualifications Minimum GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C or equivalent.
