The Role
They are looking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic specialist of English to teach and lead across all Key Stages, including A Level. The post available is a full-time permanent position. Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that all staff and students fulfil their potential by creating a culture of high expectations, aspirations, and ambitions.
- Write a subject development plan which addresses key areas of development, and ensure that Department development priorities feed into this.
- Devise an appropriate format for monitoring student progress across all Key Stages which utilises whole school systems, which can swiftly and accurately identify students who require intervention, and which minimises additional workload for staff.
- Create and foster an environment of reflective practice and CPD, leading by example in all aspects of personal and professional development and areas of key responsibility.
- Develop and maintain a culture of high expectations, aspirations and ambitions for self and others, especially in the areas of key responsibility.
- Challenge under-performance at all levels and ensure corrective action and follow up.
- Support the development and maintenance of school policies and practices to ensure consistent application both across the subject area and beyond.
- Manage relevant financial and human resources effectively and efficiently to achieve the educational goals and priorities.
- Ensure that the areas of responsibility are clearly communicated to all stakeholders including through displays, newsletters, social media and the website.
- Devise, develop and review monitoring techniques for all areas of responsibility so that they are accurate and identify and spread good and better practice across the school and beyond.
- Keep up to date with the development of creative and innovative practices in all areas of responsibility, sharing these as appropriate.
- Be a visible, proactive presence around the school, leading by example and promoting positive attitudes to learning, personal welfare, safety and behaviour from both students and staff.
- Ensure equality of opportunity and recognition of diversity are promoted through all areas of responsibility.
Skills And Qualifications
- Qualified teacher status.
- Good Honours Degree in a related subject.
- Recent successful teaching across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 in subject taught.
- Experience in leading at middle leader level.
- A track record of excellent results across all Key Stages.
