Smile Education are currently recruiting for Exam Invigilators to work on a seasonal basis during peak exam periods around the Walsall area. May – July is the busiest time due to GCSE examinations; however, there are additional opportunities throughout the academic year when mock exams and resits take place. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking flexible work within a school environment, supporting the smooth running of examinations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Setting out examination papers and stationery prior to the examination
- Ensuring a calm environment and helping to organise students at the start and end of each exam
- Displaying starting and finishing times for examinations clearly
- Ensuring the conduct of exams follows all regulatory guidelines
- Referring suspected malpractice or irregularities to the Exams Officer
- Marking attendance registers accurately
- Dealing with any disturbances during the examination appropriately
- Ensuring answer booklets are completed correctly
- Collecting and organising exam scripts in candidate number order
- Ensuring compliance with examination regulations at all times
- Collecting and counting scripts at the end of each examination
- Preparing the examination room for the next exam session

- Have strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions precisely
- Be able to remain calm and composed in a formal, high-pressure environment
- Possess strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively

Previous experience working in a school environment is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided. Applicants must demonstrate professionalism, integrity and a clear understanding of the importance of exam regulations and safeguarding procedures.
