Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant – New Academic Year

Do you hold a degree in psychology/special educational needs, or a curriculum based subject – maths, English, science? Are you empathetic to the needs some pupils face in school such as low ability or social, emotional and mental health issues? Can you offer tailored academic support to help boost pupils’ learning and development? Would you like to work in a Leicester primary school supporting pupils with academic and social development?

Responsibilities

  • Graduate TA/Teaching Assistant
  • Working with SEN primary pupils and those that need academic support due to low ability
  • Based in Leicester
  • Full time, term time position – Starts February
  • Support pupils in and out of the classroom and work closely with class teachers and the learning support department to ensure pupils are working to their full potential and are well cared for

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Hold a degree in psychology/SEN or a curriculum based subject (maths, English, science)
  • Empathetic to pupils’ needs including low ability and social, emotional and mental health issues
  • Ability to offer tailored academic support to boost learning and development
  • Previous experience of working with or supporting young people is a real advantage
  • Based in Leicester

Smile Education are currently working with a primary school in Leicester that require additional Teaching Assistants/Learning Support Assistants to work with pupils who need extra support and development in school. As with all schools there are a range of needs including social, emotional, physical and academic. The school require enthusiastic graduates to work in their area of strength, be that with special needs pupils or offering a high degree of academic tutoring. Working in a primary setting you will be tasked with supporting a range of pupils in and out of the classroom. You will work closely with the school’s class teachers as well as their learning support department to ensure that all pupils are working to their full potential and are being well cared for.
