Smile Education is recruiting an experienced science technician to start immediately at a school in Birmingham. This is a full-time position with working hours from 08:30 to 15:30, Monday to Friday.
The Role: As a Science Technician, your responsibilities will include laboratory management, equipment maintenance, experiment preparation, and ensuring health and safety compliance. You will also handle inventory control, material management, and data recording and analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Manage laboratory facilities efficiently.
- Prepare and set up equipment and materials for practical lessons and experiments.
- Maintain accurate inventory of laboratory supplies.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure health and safety regulations are followed.
- Support teachers with practical sessions and demonstrations.
- Record and analyze experimental data accurately.
- Troubleshoot technical issues as they occur.
- Engage in professional development to update scientific knowledge and skills.
Requirements:
- Degree in science or a laboratory-related field (BSc, MSc, PhD).
- Experience in a laboratory environment, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Subject to an Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
