Smile Education are recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a primary school in Rochdale. The school is rated ‘good’ in their latest Ofsted inspection and has a strong and welcoming atmosphere within the staff team. The SEN Teaching Assistant role would be working full time with children with additional needs, working Monday to Friday 8:30 to 3:30.

Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Encouraging independence within the class and within students, being proactive
  • Develop and concentrate on building a relationship with the children, staff and family members
  • Constant and consistent communication with the class teacher, regarding progress and potential methods of work
  • Create a secure and positive environment for the child to learn and feel comfortable

Requirements:

  • An up-to-date DBS on the update service or the willingness to apply for a new one
  • A teaching assistant qualification or health and social care (level 2 or 3)
  • Experience working with SEN children on a 1:1 basis or small groups work
  • Experience working with Primary or secondary school children
  • At least 2 professional references covering the last 2 years of work history
