This is a mornings-only HLTA role supporting three children in our specialist SEN provision, The Nest. The children have high-level behaviour needs, so we require someone confident, calm and skilled in behaviour management.

About the HLTA Role

This HLTA position involves providing structured support to three SEN pupils who benefit from a nurturing, low-demand environment. Your mornings will be spent leading and supporting activities such as puzzles, games, sensory play and simple tasks that help promote emotional regulation, communication and positive behaviour. This is an ideal role for a HLTA who is passionate about SEN, behaviour support and early years/first school environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent SEN support as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant within The Nest provision.
  • Use strong behaviour management and de-escalation techniques.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils with high-level behaviour needs.
  • Lead engaging, play-based activities (games, puzzles, sensory tasks).
  • Support pupils’ emotional regulation, communication and routine.
  • Work collaboratively with the SENCo, teachers and wider school team.
  • Contribute to personalised support plans and pupil observations.

What We’re Looking For

  • HLTA status (or equivalent HLTA experience).
  • Experience working with SEN and behaviour needs in a school setting.
  • Confident, consistent behaviour management skills.
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach.
  • Ability to build trust and create a safe, structured learning environment.
  • Passion for supporting young children with additional needs.

Why Apply?

  • A supportive first school environment in Redditch.
  • A well-established SEN provision with experienced colleagues.
  • Professional development opportunities.
  • A rewarding HLTA role where you can make a real difference every day.
  • Mornings only – ideal for work–life balance.

We are committed to safeguarding children. Each applicant will be expected to undertake compliance checks including Prohibited list, Barred list, DBS and Qualifications.
