Smile Education are recruiting for a SENCO to work within a secondary school in Oldham.

The role is suitable for an experienced SENCO, Assistant SENCO or qualified teacher with strong SEND leadership experience who is ready to take responsibility for SEND provision across the school.

The Role

As SENCO, you will coordinate SEND provision and ensure pupils with additional needs receive appropriate support across the school.

You will oversee EHCPs, interventions and the graduated response, working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, families and external professionals.

You will also support staff with strategies for pupils with needs including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties and learning needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate SEND provision across the school.
• Manage and review EHCPs and individual support plans.
• Lead SEND interventions and monitor pupil progress.
• Support teachers with adaptive teaching and classroom strategies.
• Work closely with parents, carers and external agencies.
• Maintain accurate SEND records and documentation.
• Support identification and assessment of additional needs.
• Contribute to SEND policy, provision mapping and school improvement.
• Support pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and wider additional needs.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and school expectations.

Requirements

• QTS is essential.
• Applicants without QTS will not be considered.
• Previous experience as a SENCO, Assistant SENCO, SEND Lead or in a strong SEND leadership role is required.
• A SENCO qualification, NASENCO or NPQ SENCO is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of EHCPs, the graduated response and SEND provision is essential.
• You must be confident advising and supporting teaching staff.
• Secondary school SEND experience is highly desirable.
• You must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
• You must have the full right to work in the UK.

Pay and Benefits

• £180-£250 per day, dependent on experience and responsibilities.
