This opportunity offers excellent flexibility to suit both full-time and part-time availability. Role Overview
As an English Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising pre-set English lessons across KS3 and KS4 in the absence of the class teacher. You will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning, ensuring pupils remain engaged, on task, and working productively. Work is available from one to five days per week, depending on your availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver pre-planned English lessons in the absence of teaching staff
- Maintain a structured and productive learning environment
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
- Ensure students stay on task and complete set work
- Support students of varying abilities, including SEND
- Promote a respectful and inclusive classroom culture
- Provide feedback to teaching staff following lessons
- Uphold safeguarding expectations and school ethos
Requirements
- Have recent experience working with young people
- Be fluent in English, with strong spoken and written communication skills
- Be confident leading groups of secondary-aged pupils
- Demonstrate strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Be adaptable, resilient, and proactive
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Hold an Enhanced DBS (or be willing to obtain one)
Experience in education, tutoring, mentoring, youth work, or English-related roles is highly desirable.
