We are currently recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and supportive school in the Tamworth area for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children’s learning, development and wellbeing within a nurturing educational environment. The school is looking for a committed and reliable individual who can provide consistency and positive support to pupils throughout the school day. The ideal candidate will be available full-time; however, part-time applicants may also be considered for the right person.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils and teaching staff to support learning both inside and outside of the classroom environment. A key part of the role will involve working with children on a 1:1 basis, helping them to engage with learning, develop confidence and achieve their individual targets.
Responsibilities- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small group settings
- Assisting children inside and outside of the classroom learning environment
- Supporting a key child during lunch breaks and less structured parts of the day
- Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Helping to create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment
- Working collaboratively with teachers and support staff to meet pupils’ needs
- Previous experience working with children, ideally within a school or SEN setting
- Experience supporting children with behavioural or additional learning needs
- The ability to manage and de-escalate behaviour effectively
- A positive, proactive and can-do attitude
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to work well as part of a team while also using their own initiative to work independently
- Commitment, consistency and reliability — essential qualities for this role
- A genuine passion for supporting children and creating a positive learning environment
- Applicants must hold a relevant qualification, such as:
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
- CACHE qualification
- Childcare or Education-related qualification
- Or equivalent relevant experience and certification
