Smile Education are proud to be supporting The Endeavour Multi Academy Trust in the recruitment of an experienced Secondary Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated and supportive team at their school in Tamworth. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a vibrant and inclusive special school community, supporting pupils aged 11–19 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

The Role

  • Support teaching and learning for pupils with Special Educational Needs
  • Work closely with teaching staff, Senior Leadership Team, in-house specialists and therapy professionals to support pupil progress
  • Adapt support strategies in line with guidance to meet individual needs
  • Supervise pupils at lunchtime
  • Undertake duties as required to contribute to a safe, positive and supportive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

  • Have strong behaviour management skills
  • Be able to listen to guidance and adapt their support approach to meet individual student needs
  • Have experience supporting students with a range of additional needs
  • Hold an NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) and have experience working with children with Special Educational Needs
  • Have high standards and expectations of themselves and the pupils they support
  • Be creative, enthusiastic and have a positive "can do" attitude
  • Enjoy working collaboratively as part of a dedicated and hardworking team
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
